24hr Prayer Leicester began as part of the Community of the Tree of Life’s vision to help people ENTER into prayer, ENLARGE their experiences of prayer, and to develop EVERYDAY practices. Find out more about our House of Prayer charism here.

We are inviting you to join with Christians from around Leicester to pray nonstop for 24 hours. Sign up to pray for one hour, once a month and together let us fill an entire day with prayer.

Each month we’ll kick off with morning prayer live with Leicester Cathedral from St Nicholas Church at 8.30am on the third Thursday of every month. Prayer will continue nonstop for 24 hours as different people take up the baton of prayer from their home, workplace or wherever they happen to be.

Agape Meal // 16-17th June

For 24 hours of prayer in June, we will be remembering, along with other Christians over the globe, the Last Supper and Jesus’ gift of Communion to us. What does this ritual show us about what we hold in common as Christians? We will be praying for the Spirit to inspire us to better share what we have in common and minister to those in need in our communities.

March // modern day slavery

For March’s 24hr Prayer Leicester, we joined with Christians in Leicester and Leicestershire against Modern Day Slavery (CLAMS) to pray for the victims of modern day slavery, especially in Leicestershire.

We worked with CLAMS to make our 60 minute prayer guide, and hosted the Kitted Chain in our Community chapel from the 21st-28th March. The Knitted Chain is now off to Market Harborough!

february // images of God

The theme for February’s 24hr Prayer Leicester was “Images of God”, encouraging us to think about and enlarge our personal image of God, and ponder whether it matters what God looks like.

This theme was inspired by Leicester Cathedral’s Global Voices webinar series. The Images of God session will take place on the Thursday the 24th February.

January // Prayer for Christian Unity

In January, 24hr Prayer Leicester joined in with the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The hour-long prayer guide focussed on WPCU’s 2022 theme ‘We Saw a Star in the East’, created by Christians in the middle east and praying for Christians to come together around issues of inequality, injustice and dishonesty.
