Stained Glass

A sneak peak of an artist’s impression of a 2.5m x 2m contemporary abstract stained glass screen that will create a focal point for the new chapel at the Community House.

The words, ‘Abide in my love’ are quoted at the base of the design in reference to John 15 where Jesus speaks of himself as the True Vine and his disciples as the branches. Our Rule of Life is inspired by these words and the design expresses the community’s desire to be rooted, flourishing and fruitful.

‘I am the Vine; you are the branches. If you abide in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit’

The design also features a map from 1722 showing the original site of the Greyfriars friary which was established in Leicester in 1230. The map reminds the community of it’s spiritual inheritance and its calling to see a house of prayer rebuilt in our day.

‘They shall rebuild the ancient ruins’ – Isaiah 61

The graduated blues towards the bottom section allude to the River of the Water of Life as described in Revelation 22. The Cross of Christ takes centre stage in the design, and the background colour palette is a rich variety of dappled green vine leaves.
