Let’s Say Grace…

Surplus Kitchen Grace

We take a moment at this table,
giving thanks for all the good gifts we have been given;
in poverty or plenty
we say thanks for our daily bread.

We take our seat at this table,
gathering with friend and stranger to share food and story;
in eating together
we assert our shared humanity.

We take our time at this table,
slowing down to savour the flavour of each mouthful;
in no rush to be somewhere
we become present.

We take a stand at this table
daring to believe there is enough for every mouth to be fed;
in response to food waste
we feed bellies and not bins.
