A Week in the Life

Our Daily Rhythm of Life is punctuated with prayer. We pray three offices each day in our chapel; Morning Prayer, Midday Prayer and Compline.

Each member of the community will be part of a fortnightly listening group and will have a person they meet with for regular spiritual accompaniment. This person will be from outside the community and trained in Spiritual Direction.

Monday: Study

You’ll be enlarged as you learn to think Biblically and reflect theologically.

Morning Bible teaching, time for private study and afternoon sessions engaging with the monastic tradition.

We don’t offer an academic qualification, but we do offer quality input on the Bible, Spiritual Formation, and Spirituality from our team and guest speakers.

Tuesday: Social Action Placement

You’ll be stretched by serving in social action projects with some of the most vulnerable in our city.

We work in partnership with a range of social action projects in the City including The Centre Project, The Reality Bus and One Roof Leicester.

Wednesday: Quiet Day

You’ll be deepened as you learn to face yourself in community and in the silence of solitude.

Desert Morning provides space for solitude and the practice of spiritual exercises such as Lectio Divina, centring prayer and imagination.

Thursday: Church Placement

You’ll be challenged as you engage in mission with a local parish church.

We work in partnership with local Parish Churches, benefices and Deaneries throughout the Diocese of Leicester; both rural and urban.

Friday: Prayer & Preparation

You’ll be provoked to pray for people and place and asked to participate in preparations for Sabbath.

We pray, non-stop, from early to Eucharist, whilst preparing well and completing all our chores ready to celebrate our Sabbath Community Meal.

Saturday: Sabbath

A day off to re-energise. Explore the city or take a country walk. Catch a movie, grab a coffee or curl up with a book in the library.

Sunday: Worship

Join with your placement Church each week for a time of worship and teaching followed by a family lunch.
